In true Lake Louise winter fashion, Kate & Greg experienced all four seasons on their wedding day. From bright sunny skies, to overcast fog, to a full-on snowstorm, they really got a taste of winter in the Rockies.
Kate & Greg are so fun and kind, so it’s fitting that their day started off with a lot of laughter mixed in with some emotional moments too. Guests entered the hotel’s library for their ceremony and were greeted with live music and a glass of wine to celebrate these two officially being married! Despite the major snowstorm happening outside, we embraced it for wedding party portraits, and we were so glad we did! The snow stopped and started throughout the afternoon, but the mountains showed off just in time for Kate & Greg’s portraits! We wandered the hotel grounds for a few more photos, then headed into cocktail hour to hang out with all the couples’ favourite people. The reception was beautifully decorated with warm accents and greenery, and the Outpost Pub kept the afterparty going strong!
The Post Hotel is a special place for Kate and her family, and it was important to her to one day include it in her wedding story. So after all the reschedules that 2020 and 2021 brought, they stuck with The Post. They also stuck with me through everything too, and since they were one of the first couples to trust me with their wedding when they chose me in 2019, I am so grateful for that!
The Post Hotel is the perfect mountain getaway for your winter wedding. Their location is central to the village of Lake Louise, so coffee shops and restaurants are steps away. The Bow River is nearby, along with the beautiful trails, for the perfect photo spots without having to drive. The grounds of the Post Hotel are stunning all on their own, so when timelines are tight (or when the hotel is special to the couple, like in Kate & Greg’s case), you can take portraits right there! The staff treated everyone like family, and the guests all had a fantastic time. The spa is a lovely touch for your photographer too 😉
Embracing the elements might be intimidating, but it truly is one of the best attitudes to have on your wedding day. The weather and environment is part of the story of your day, and embracing it and including it in the activities of the day will create memories, open you fully to solidifying those memories in your mind, create AWESOME photos, and it’s really so much fun! We debated staying at the hotel for all our portraits, but Kate & Greg were so happy in the end that we made the most of their Lake Louise winter wedding!
